Revolut's cryptocurrency statement is short and already in pounds: each row is a buy, sell, send, receive or reward with its quantity, price, value and fee in GBP. CryptoTaxCheck reads the current statement layout (CSV or Excel) and the older combined account statements that Revolut produced before 2025. Because Revolut does not stamp a time zone on its times, we make one clearly labelled assumption, explained below. Your statement is read in your browser and never uploaded.
How to download your Revolut crypto statement
The steps follow Revolut's UK help article "Download a cryptocurrency statement", checked on 27 September 2026. Statements are electronic only.
- Open the Revolut app and go to Crypto. It is on the bottom menu.
- Tap More, then Documents.
- Choose the cryptocurrency statement and a timeframe. Select the type of document you want to generate — the crypto account statement, not the general account statement — and the period. A UK tax year runs from 6 April to 5 April; covering your whole crypto history in one statement is best, because pooling needs every purchase.
- Tap Generate, then save the file. Share or export the finished statement to the computer you will use for the calculator. We read the CSV and the Excel versions of the statement.
- Repeat for earlier periods if your history is long. Import all the statements together and make sure the periods do not overlap.
What we read from the file
Buys and sells with their pound value and fee, sends and receives (flagged as possible transfers for you to confirm), Learn rewards and staking rewards as income at their value on receipt. Stake and Unstake rows are your own coins moving between pockets and are set aside as internal. From the older combined account statements we import the crypto EXCHANGE and CARD_PAYMENT rows and ignore the fiat rows and balance migrations.
Because values are already in pounds, Revolut statements rarely need a price lookup. Value is quantity × price before the fee; the fee sits in its own Fees column and is treated as an allowable cost.
Common gotchas
- No time zone on the times. Statement times are shown in your local time with no zone marker. We read them as UK time (Europe/London) and convert to UTC, and the review screen shows this as an assumption. It only matters for transactions very close to midnight or to the 5 April year end.
- Money cells carry the currency. Values look like
GBP 1,253.10or£1,253.10; we read both.Valueexcludes the fee, which is inFees. - Two statement layouts. Statements before 2025 came from Revolut's general account statement and have a different set of columns (
Type, Product, Started Date, …). We accept both, but only crypto rows are imported from the older one. - Newer layouts are refused, not guessed. Revolut changed its format in 2025. If your statement is newer than the layouts below, you will get a "send it to us" message rather than a wrong answer.
Which Revolut formats are covered?
| Format | Header signature | Years |
|---|---|---|
revolut/crypto-statement-2025 | Symbol, Type, Quantity, Price, Value, Fees, Date (CSV or Excel) | 2025–present |
revolut/account-statement-legacy | Type, Product, Started Date, Completed Date, Description, Amount, Currency, Fiat amount, Fiat amount (inc. fees), Fee, Base currency, State, Balance | to 2024 |
Revolut does not document its column layout, so both were verified against real anonymised statements reproduced in established open-source tax tools.
What happens after import?
The import review screen shows the rows read, the date range, the sends and receives to confirm as transfers and the time-zone assumption. Add your other exchanges' files at the same time so transfers between them can be paired. Each disposal is then matched under HMRC's same-day, 30-day and section 104 pool rules — with the rule shown — and you see gains, losses, income and estimated tax for each tax year you select.
